Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, virtually laid the foundation stone of a modern police station at Shahpur, from Chandigarh on Wednesday.
The CM was scheduled to inaugurate the police station, being constructed with the cost of Rs five crore but the state government chopper couldn’t take off from Chandigarh due to bad weather.
In his address the CM said , “ The state government is committed to develop Kangra district as a tourism capital of the state in order to increase foreign and domestic tourists for which Kangra airport would be expanded, a process for which has already begun, besides construction of a hanger for choppers at Palampur.”
He said, “Adequate compensation to people displaced during expansion of the airport would be given and no one would be left homeless as the airport would bring economic prosperity to the region.”
The CM said, “The state government plans to allocate Rs. 70 crore for the Shahpur-Fatehpur road project, provided funds for Rehan College, granted approval for opening a police station at Bir and it is trying to ensure balanced and uniform development in the state.”
Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar and several MLAs and other dignitaries were present at Shahpur on the occasion.
