Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended warm greetings to Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, on his birthday at Mcleodganj on Thursday and also felicitated him on the occasion.
The CM said, “People of the Tibetan community and Himachal Pradesh have had a close relationship for the past 75 years and harmonious relationships are continuing between two communities.”
Recognizing the Dalai Lama as an embodiment of non-violence, compassion, and brotherhood, the CM said, “The Tibetan Guru is known as a harbinger of love, peace and fraternity worldwide for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Appreciating his tireless advocacy for rights of the Tibetans the CM also praised the Spiritual Guru for his Endeavour in enlightening the youth about India’s ancient culture, knowledge and values, which has resonated across the world.
He said, “The Dalai Lama’s life journey is replete with unwavering dedication and struggles and exhorted everyone to draw inspiration from the teachings and experiences of the Dalai Lama and incorporate his teachings in their lives.”
He highlighted the harmonious co-existence between the two communities and assured that the State Government would extend a helping hand towards the welfare of the Tibetan community.
President of Central Tibetan Administration Penpa Tsering, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphal and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
