Adventure by a man to take Shrikhand Yatra in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, before its official commencement on July 7, proved fatal for him resulting in his death.
Rakesh Sharma, son of Thakur Das, a resident of village Gharkoti of Bilaspur district died at Bheem Dwari on way to Shrikhand peak. As there is hardly any arrangements on the way no help could be provided to the deceased.
The Shrikhand Yatra is considered one of the toughest yatras in Himachal Pradesh as several pilgrims lose their lives every year on the one way 35 kilometers treacherous route, due to different health related issues.
Though Chhadi yatra by Yatra parbandhak committee concluded a day back, the yatra would officially commence from July 7, when all arrangements like medical aid center, langars, tent shelters etc would be set up by the parbandhak committee.
SDM Nirmand Manmohan Sharma said, “The pilgrims should not ignore the advice of the prabandhak committee as the Yatra is quite difficult and can prove fatal.”
