Veteran journalist Hem Kant Katayayan passed away on Friday night at Mandi.
Mr Katayan had worked for more than four decades as a journalist here.
His family source said, ” He felt uneasiness at about 2 am and was taken to Zonal Hospital Mandi, where he collapsed due to massive heart attack.”
He had joined journalism after quitting his job with the IB and worked for
Jagran, Punjab Kesari, Dainik Tribune and Hindi Hindu; he also remained president of Mandi Press Club and was also one of the founders of the Club.
Members of Mandi press club and various other organisations have mourned the death and expressed condolences to the family.
He is survived by his wife and a son who is a stage singer in Mumbai.
His cremation will take place on Sunday at Hanuman Ghat.
