Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called on Union Minister for Power R. K. Singh at New Delhi on Monday and urged him to take steps for handing over of Shanan Hydro Power Project to the state government after expiry of its lease to Punjab government.
He said, “The project located at Joginder Nagar in Mandi district was leased out to the Punjab government by erstwhile ruler of Mandi estate for 99 years as its term is expiring in March 2024 he urged the Union Minister to take steps for handing over the project to the state government.”
The CM also apprised the Union Minister about factual details of the state share in the BBMB and SJVNL projects and reiterated demand of paying 12 percent royalty to the state on use of its water, besides rehabilitation of BBMB evacuees.
