The four-day festival of Holi at Sujanpur began on Sunday with enthusiasm and cultural tradition, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The CM paid obeisance at Murli Manohar temple and also participated in a shobha yatra (religious procession) along with a large number of prominent citizens wearing colourful turbans.
The CM inaugurated the Saras fair, displaying handloom and handicrafts from over 14 states and showcasing of traditional cuisines of the state by local botis (cooks).
Greeting people on the occasion of Holi he said, “The festival of Holi at Sujanpur has an age old tradition which symbolizes mutual harmony and fraternity, besides being a perfect example of harmony and gaiety.”
He said, “The Saras fair would provide a platform to display cultural diversity of the state and promote traditional handicrafts and cuisines of Himachal.”
He also inaugurated exhibitions put up by different departments.
