The activists of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a torchlight procession in Mandi town to observe 92nd martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev and Raj Guru on Thursday .
The state president of the DYFI Suresh Sarwal said, “ On March 23rd in 1931 Shaheed Bhagat Singh , Raj Guru and Sukh Dev were hanged by the British rulers, while fighting for the Indian Independence .”
He said , “ Though thousands of youths had laid down their lives by embracing death for attaining the freedom of India from the British regime, it is a matter of concern that youths are feeling deprived in our country and the dream of the Independence envisaged by Shaheed Bhagat Singh is fading away .”
The DYFI leaders said, “Bhagat Singh had a clear vision of building a socialist state in the independent India but successive governments have ignored the ideas of the martyr and just used his name for the political gains.”
Mandi district vice president of DYFI Jai Dev said, “DYFI is following the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and would keep on organizing youths to fulfill the dreams of our martyrs.”
