Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “The state government fully understands the importance of developing dairy sector to uplift the rural economy of the state and working to purchase milk from the local people and promote cooperatives in this sector.”
He said, “The state government intends to improve the monthly income of farmers ranging between Rs 24,000 to Rs 30,000 and has decided to buy milk from the farmers at Rs 80 per liter for the cow milk and Rs 100 per liter buffalo milk; besides setting up chilling plants and procure milk through refrigerated vans and buy cow dung.”
“This will help in motivating farmers for rearing cattle and provide self employment; the CM has taken up a few projects related to this sector with Union Animal Husbandry Minister P Rupala in New Delhi recently”.
The CM said, “The state government is committed to strengthen rural economy of the state by allocating Rs 1000 crore for this purpose.”
