Mr. Shiv Pratap Shukla was sworn in as the 29th Governor of Himachal Pradesh in a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan Shimla on Saturday.
Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Sabina administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Shukla. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena read out the warrant of appointment.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Lady Governor Smt. Janki Shukla, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Speaker of HP Assembly Kuldeep Pathania, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, several Cabinet Ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Member of Parliament Rajiv Shukla and HPCC president Pratibha Singh among others were present on the occasion.
Expressing gratitude toward the President of India for his appointment as Governor of Himachal Pradesh, the Governor said he would work in accordance with the Constitution and sought cooperation of the CM.
He said , “ Being an educationist I would try to help the state government in this sector and would travel the state to identify problems by having first hand information .”
The CM and the Deputy CM greeted Mr Shukla on assuming the office of Governor of the state and have expressed hope his tenure would benefit the state immensely .
