Almost two months old ongoing dispute between the Adani cement companies and Tuck operators Unions was resolved on Monday after agreement between them on freight rate was reached on the intervention of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The Adani cement companies had closed production in its recently purchased cement plants at Barmana and Darlaghat on December 16, immediately after new CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took oath on December 11, to pressurize the truck operators to reduce the cement freight
The CM announced, “After three rounds of talks with the efforts of the state government an agreement was reached today between the representatives of the cement companies and the truck operators ending 66 days of impasse.”
He said, “The truckers have agreed to ferry cement at Rs 9.30 tons per kilometer by single axle trucks and at Rs 10.30 per kilometer by multi axle trucks reducing the freight from Rs 11.43 and Rs 10.53, respectively.”
The CM also praised Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Rai and Solan DC KC Chaman, besides other officers for their efforts to resolve the dispute.
