Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the five-day Manali Winter Carnival on Monday . He paid obeisance in Hidimba Temple and flagged off the Carnival parade.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion the CM announced plans to open an indoor stadium with an ice skating rink at Manali to promote tourism; he also announced an enhancement to enhance the Protsahan allowance of Mahila Mandals from  Rs 10000 to Rs 20000.

He said, “A bypass to Manali would be constructed to decongest Manali, besides creating wayside facilities at Solang Nallah, developing paragliding sites and facilities at Atal Tunnel for the tourists.”

The CM said , “ The state government is committed to fulfill ten guarantees given by the Congress party during the Assembly election and OPS would be implemented in the first meeting of the Cabinet; the women of 18 to 60 years would also be given Rs 1500 per month as promised by the Congress party.”

Mr Singh said, “The state government would make every effort to keep the state’s environment clean and electric vehicles would be introduced to check pollution and 18 vehicles would be replaced with EVs on January 15; the EV charging points would also be created at different places.”

The CM said, “The state government is committed to ensure welfare of needy children, orphans, destitute women and senior citizens; the state government has announced to give festival allowance of Rs 500 to inmates of people living in different institutions, besides creating a CM Sukhashray Sahayat Kosh with an initial grant of Rs 101 crore to provide higher education facility to such people.”

Taking an initiative the CM has already announced to donate his first salary to the fund and MLAs have also given their consent to donate their one month’s salary to the fund.”

Later, the CM also inaugurated the cultural programme at Manu Rangshala by lighting a lamp.
