Nearly 11 lakh consumers are likely to be benefitted by the decision of the state government to provide free electricity to users consuming 60 units per month and of those using 125 units at a subsidised rate of Rs one per unit .
A spokesman of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited said more than 11 lakhs consumers would be benefitted by this concession which would be given from March 2022 onwards and applicable for the agricultural consumers from April 2022.
Announcement in this regard was made by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on the occasion of the statehood day function at Solan. The spokesman said for the agriculturists the per unit consumption rate has been reduced from 50 paise to 30 paise per unit .
To implement this decision the state government would bear a cost of about Rs 90 crores annually.
