A spokesperson of the State government has said “Ninety two students and staff of The Tibetan Children Village (TCV) School in Suja (Joginder Nagar) in Mandi district have tested positive for COVID – 19; out of which 47 are girls, 20 boys and 25 are staff members”.
The spokesperson said, “The students had arrived in the school from Arunanchal Pradesh, Laddakh, Maharashtra and Nepal between October 25 and 31st and tested positive for COVID – 19 when the school administration advised them to undergo the tests as they had travelled from outside the state”.
He said, “The Mandi district administration has adopted a proactive approach in dealing with such people and carrying out routine enhanced testing under its special testing campaign”.
He said, “The virus was detected among the students due to pro-active approach of State Government and the Mandi district administration acted with alacrity, besides isolating all of them in the school premises and are kept under constant observation by a team of health department and would be shifted to COVID care centre or hospital, if need arises.”
“The state government had opened all the barriers of the state as per the guidelines of the Central Government and all preventive measures are being taken to ensure that no person coming from outside the state infects local people, besides enhancing the COVID tests to six thousand daily on regular basis”, he added.
