A young girl reportedly ended her life by jumping from Victoria Bridge Mandi in Beas River on Sunday night.
Though the exact cause of the death is being investigated by police, in a video circulated on social media, “The father of the girl had reportedly scolded the girl for using her mobile phone during the late hours of the night.”
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi Sakshi Verma said, “An information was received in the city police post about the jumping of a 16-year-old girl in the river Beas from Victoria Bridge Mandi at about 3 am on Sunday night, after which police went to search; her body was recovered about 400 meters away from the Victoria Bridge by SDRF personnel at about 3.15 pm on Monday.”
The girl was living with her family in Bhootnath Street, Mandi.
