Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan Mandi inaugurated the Legal Aid Counseling Center set up under National Legal Services Authority at Mandi and Civil Judge Court Padhar on Saturday.
Supervising the proceedings of Lok Adalats at Mandi and Padhar, Justice Chuahan said, “A provision has been made to provide free legal aid to poor people under the Legal Aid Defense Council system by the National Legal Services Authority to provide justice to everyone.”
He said, “The Legal Aid Defense Council system has been further strengthened by appointing whole time defence councils, Lok Adalats are being organized to settle the pending cases and as many as 75000 cases would be heard under drive”
He said, “Delivering justice to litigants should be the main focus of judges and lawyers and every one of us have to keep their problems in mind.”
“While opening Civil Court at Padhar he said, “People of rural areas of Padhar sub-division and from remote areas of Chauhar Valley would get benefitted by opening of the court.”
Justice Ajay Mohan Goel also addressed the audience on the occasion.
Earlier, District and Sessions Judge Rakesh Kainthala welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries.
Justice Satyen Vaidya, OSD to the CJ, Chirag Bhanu, Registrar Arvind Malhotra, and Member Secretary Legal Services Authority Shimla Prem Pal Ranta among other dignitaries were present.
As many as 5886 court cases pending in different courts of Mandi district were settled in the Lok Adalats through amicable settlement.
