Abhilashi University Chailchowk, (Mandi), held its sixth annual convocation at its campus on Wednesday, where Education Minister Rohit Thakur was the Chief Guest.

Thakur conferred degrees on meritorious students and lauded Abhilashi University for becoming a hub of modern, job-oriented center of education.

He said the university is drawing students from across the country and contributing significantly to the region’s academic development.

Earlier, he was welcomed by Chancellor of the University Dr RK Abhilakshi , Director Dr Lalit Abhilashi and others in the university campus.

Addressing the audience on the occasion, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said, “The state government has recruited over 6,000 teachers in government schools across Himachal Pradesh and the process to recruit more 3100 teachers was in progress.”

He also announced the appointment of 119 principals in government colleges and the filling of 484 assistant professor vacancies, strengthening higher education.

The minister said, “The state government has been trying to provide quality education in the educational institutions of the state despite financial constraints and an amount of Rs 8950 crore has been allocated for the education this year.”

He also urged the students to focus on their goals through hard work, shun substance abuse and utilize their time in the best manner.

Earlier, Chancellor of Abhilashi University Dr RK Abhilashi presented the annual report. Several dignitaries were present on the occasion.
