Mandi Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Apoorv Devgan has extended the orders of closing traffic on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway between Nerchowk and Pandoh for two hours from 11 to 12 am and from 2 pm to 3 pm daily, till April 30.
He has also directed the NHAI to take all precautionary measures and ensure the safety of travellers while carrying out cutting and blasting work.
The order has been issued on the request of the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India to speed up cutting and widening work on the four-lane project for smooth flow of vehicular traffic in the wake of the ensuing tourist season.
The NHAI said, “The movement of tourist vehicles going to Manali and Lahaul on this road will increase substantially in the coming days, and efforts are being made to speed up work and complete the pending cutting and blasting work near 4 Mile.”
