At least six people died and three others were injured when a tree, uprooted due to a storm, fell on pedestrians and a few vehicles parked near historic Manikaran Gurudwara on Sunday.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kullu , Vikas Shukla said , “ The deceased have been identified as Reena daughter of Hans Raj , Manikaran, Varshini daugher of Ramesh Babu of Bangluru and Sameer Guranag , a Nepali national , besides three perosns, yer to be identified .”

“The injured include Ramesh Babu (49), resident of Vijay Nagar, Bangluru ; Pallavi Ramesh , wife of Ramesh Babu ; Bhargav , son of Ramesh Babu ; Vikram Acharya (42) pf Assam, Tumpa Acharya son of Vikram Acharya and Prachi (23) daughter of Madhusudan , Hissar (Haryana)” .

As per an information, “The tree was uprooted and fell on the road in front of the Gurdwara, leading to the deaths of two street vendors, a driver, and three tourists on the spot”.

SDM said, “ Three persons injured in the incident have been taken to Kullu hospital for treatment and relief and rescue operation was on.”

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has expressed deep shock over the incident and directed the Kullu district administration to extend every help to the victims.

Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has extended his condolences to the families of the deceased.
