Two bike-borne criminals fired at a Dhaba owner with a country-made revolver at Pul Gharat near Mandi town last night at about 12 pm, seriously injuring him.
Pradeep Guleria, the owner of Royal Chicken Corner, was seriously injured in the incident after the firing, and the assailants managed to flee on the bike.
Superintendent of Police, Mandi Sakshi Verma, said, “During the intervening night of 21st and 22nd March, the Sadar police station Mandi received a complaint from Pradeep Guleria, resident of Dayri (Tilli), that two bikers came to his Dhaba and asked to pack food for them. When he was packing the food, the bikers started stealing money from his cash box, and on being objected to by the Dhaba owner, they pulled out a revolver and fired at him and took away his LED screen while fleeing.”
“A police party immediately rushed to the spot and took injured Pradeep Guleria to Zonal Hospital Mandi; an FIR in the case has been registered under sections 109, 307, 3 (5) of BNS and 25 of Arms Act, and a special investigating team has been constituted under Additional SP Sachin Hiremath for further investigation,” she added .
Meanwhile, spokesman of the state BJP Rakesh Jamwal (Sunder Nagar MLA) has expressed serious concern about “deteriorating law and order in the state“.
He said, “The incident of firing near Mandi last night is a living example of the situation; the goons are firing openly, and even Congress leaders are not safe today.”
He also demanded handing over the death case of Vimal Negi to the CBI.
