The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) center in Shimla has issued a yellow alert of light to moderate rains and snow at many places in the state for four days from February 25 to 28.
As per the weather forecast report issued on Sunday, the IMD has predicted the possibility of one or two spells of heavy rains and snow at many places and dry weather on February 24 and 25.
There will be no major change in minimum and maximum temperatures till Monday, but thereafter the minimum temperature is likely to rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to fall by 5-7 degrees Celsius over many parts of the state. Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places, with dense fog at many places in mid-hills on February 26-27.
The previous spell of rain and snow has reduced the deficiency of winter rains by nearly 20 percent bringing it down to 66 percent from 86 percent and the coming spell is likely to reduce it further.
