Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged-off a Volvo bus carrying the first batch of 22 orphans adopted as ‘Children of the State’ to commence the 13-days educational and recreational tour under Sukh Aashray Yojana, at Shimla on Thursday.
CM said, “The state government enacted a law for orphaned children and has adopted 6000 children under Sukh Ashrey Scheme to provide them proper education, recreational and other facilities to ensure their welfare and growth by giving them exposure will add to their knowledge and prepare them for future challenges.”
He said, “This scheme aims to empower these children and support them in becoming self-reliant, as a part of this initiative, children are being taken to Chandigarh, Delhi and Goa for their exposure and learning; which include 16 girls and six boys.”
“The group would visit Chandigarh from 2 to 4 January and would stay at Himachal Bhawan Chandigarh. They would then travel to Delhi on 5 January aboard the Shatabdi Express, exploring various historical landmarks until 8 January. On 9th January, the children would fly to Goa, where they would stay in a three-star hotel and visit key tourist and historic attractions. The group is scheduled to return to Chandigarh on 14 January, 2025,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government is performing the role of their parents and their mentors to ensure their proper development and the state government is trying to give these children the same experiences like other children.
