A bus carrying devotees from Himachal Pradesh to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj collided with a hydra crane in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district early Tuesday morning, leaving at least 32 people injured, with eight in critical condition.

Details of the Incident

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kaushambi, Brijesh Shrivastav, stated, “The bus, carrying pilgrims from Solan, Himachal Pradesh, was en route to Prayagraj when it collided with a hydra crane near Kaushambi on National Highway-2. Eight passengers are in critical condition and have been admitted to the medical college, while others are being treated at Sirathu.”

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Sanjay Singh added, “The accident occurred early Tuesday morning, leaving several passengers injured. Six ambulances were dispatched to transport the injured to nearby health centers, and those with severe injuries have been referred to the medical college for further treatment. Eight critically injured passengers are currently under medical care at the college.”

Response and Assistance

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has instructed the Solan district administration to coordinate with the Kaushambi administration to ensure timely medical assistance for the injured.

MLA Arki, Sanjay Awasthi, assured, “The Solan district administration is actively in touch with Kaushambi officials to facilitate the treatment of the injured and provide all necessary support.”

This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of road safety, especially during long-distance pilgrimages. Authorities are working together to ensure the injured receive proper medical attention and assistance.
