SJVN has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bihar in Patna to develop the 1000 MW Hathidah Durgawati Pumped Storage Project (PSP) and other PSPs in Bihar. The agreement aims to boost renewable energy infrastructure and employment opportunities in the state.
The MoU was signed by Mukesh Kumar Sharma, General Manager, SJVN, and Bandana Preyashi, Secretary, Department of Industries, Bihar. The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Vijay Kumar Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Minister of Energy, and Nitish Mishra, Minister of Industries and Tourism, alongside SJVN CMD Raj Kumar Chaudhary.
The Hathidah Durgawati PSP is designed to produce 6.325 Million Units (MU) of daily peak energy, bolstering Bihar’s renewable energy capacity and contributing to India’s green energy goals.
SJVN is currently working on approximately 12,000 MW of PSPs across states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Mizoram, and Himachal Pradesh. The Hathidah Durgawati PSP represents a significant step toward sustainable energy development in Bihar and a model for similar initiatives nationwide.
