The Congress and BJP MLAs held separate protests in the premises of Himachal Vidhan Sabha on the second day of winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, being held at Tapovan in Dharamshala on Thursday.
The Congress MLAs headed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu staged a protest in the Vidhan Sabha premises against the alleged objectionable comments made by Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution in the parliament on Wednesday.
The CM said, “The BJP leaders were disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and the principles enshrined in the Constitution; the insulting words directed at the Constitution maker were not just inappropriate but deeply offensive and the Congress Party strongly condemns use of such world against Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who laid foundation principles of equality and justice in the constitution to strengthen our Democracy.”
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Cabinet Ministers and several other Congress MLAs also voiced their unwavering support for Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and legacy during the protest.
The BJP MLA also staged a protest in the Vidhan Sabha premises against the Congress government. They highlighted various allegations of corruption against the Congress government, besides raising accusations of serving of a junglee murga during CM’s tour to the area recently, the claim refuted by the CM.
