The mortal remains of Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar were consigned to flames with military and state honour on Tuesday at his ancestral village Barnog under Chhamyar Panchayat of Nachan Assembly constituency of Mandi district.  

Naib Subedar RaKesh Kumar was killed in encounter with terrorists on Sunday during a combing operation in remote forest area of Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir. He was part of an Army’s 2 Para (SF) hit by volley of bullets and succumbed to injuries.

Nachan MLA Vinod Kumar, Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, DC Mandi Apoorv Devgan, DIG Central Range Somya Sambshivan, Army officers from 2 Para SF laid wreaths on the body of the martyr .Hundreds of villagers also paid their tributes.

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar.

Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also visited the family members of the martyr to express his condolences.
