The inquiry by state CID in lapse on the part of certain CID officials in serving snacks (samosa and pastry) to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has embroiled into a major controversy as BJP leaders have ridiculed the inquiry in a minor incident.
A top officer of the CID had ordered an inquiry for not serving the snacks to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during his visit in a function organized at state CID office on October 21 and serving the same to his staff accompanying him.
The lapse reportedly occurred due to miscommunication as the snacks brought on the orders of IG CID from a hotel for serving to the CM were inadvertently served to his staff.
After the incident the officer had ordered an inquiry in the incident but more than the inquiry the officer’s remark while ordering the inquiry drew much attention as the officer had termed this as the work of ‘ anti – CID and anti- government officials .”
Reacting to the inquiry, former CM and the Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said, “This is a very ludicrous situation when the CID department was inquiring about lapse to serve snacks to the CM and don’t have time to investigate several pressing and important matters of public importance.”
Caught in the snacks controversy the CID department has tried to downplay the incident by saying, “It is our internal matter, the government has no role in the inquiry and appealed not to politicize the issue.”
