After capturing the hearts of audiences and critics in Europe, Asia and the United States, Subhadra Mahajan’s debut feature film SECOND CHANCE will be screened at Dharamshala International Film Festival.

The film SECOND CHANCE is a creation of Subhadra Mahajan, an impending film maker from Himachal Pradesh brought up in Shimla. She is daughter of Harsha Mahajan, a known political figure of Himachal Pradesh and Rajya Sabha Member. Her mother Uma Mahajan is a stage actor and a social activist.

Telling about the theme of the film Subhdra Mahajan said, “The SECOND CHANCE follows the story of an urban young woman, who after experiencing the first major trauma of her life, retreats to her family summer home in the mountains where time, nature and unlikely friendships help her recover.”  

She said , “ The film has been set and shot in  Kullu and Lahaul valleys of Himachal Pradesh and several newcomers like Dheera Johnson from Manali as protagonist, Thakari Devi and Kanav Thakur both from village Burua and Manali based musician Shuarya  among others are also part of the film.”

She said, “The SECOND CHANCE is my humble attempt to celebrate my beloved homeland through the medium of cinema… and I am over the moon to have the film make its India premiere at Dharamshala International film festival between November 7 and 11.”

The film is produced by Shyam Bora of Metanormal Motion pictures alongside Latent Picture’s . Bhaskar Hazarika, Sidharth Meer and Naren Chandavarkar are co-producers and Pan Nalin and cinematographer Swapnil S. Sonawane are Executive Producers.

Being a passionate Himachali, Subhadra has roped in several crew members from the state like Sanjeev Sakhali the line producer, Sheru Baba the dialogue translator and cultural expert, Art Director Deepak Thakur and the second assistant director Karan Vist are from Himachal.

The film had its World Premiere at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July and t garnered stellar reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter praising it for ‘effortlessly blending gentle humour with poignant drama’; and Variety declaring Subhadra as one of the ‘new female Indian filmmakers at the vanguard of a movement, whose movies share a certain, wise-beyond-their-years poetry.

The film was screened at Asia’s biggest film festival and Market- the Busan International Film Festival and scheduled to be screened at AFI Fest in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles.
