Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated water sports activities in Gobind Sagar Lake at Bilaspur on Tuesday.
Several water sports activities like cruises, shikara rides, houseboats, hi-tech motorboats, jet skis and water scooters were launched on the occasion.
The CM said, “The water sports will boost the tourism potential and create self employment opportunities for local youths, besides benefiting local businessmen and local entrepreneurs to improve the economy of the area.”
He said , “ With the development of water sports, along with initiatives to boost religious and eco-tourism in Bilaspur district will attract more tourists with added activities in the area; the ongoing efforts of the government would elevate Bilaspur’s status on Himachal’s tourism map, creating diverse experiences like natural beauty, cultural heritage and adventure activities,” he added .
The CM also took a ride on a jet ski and later enjoyed a scenic cruise, showcasing his support for the water sports.
