Paralympic high jumper Nishad Kumar, hailing from Badaun village of Una district of Himachal Pradesh has brought laurels not only for the state but for the country by winning a silver medal in high jump event in Paris Paralympics games for the second time in a row.
Repeating his silver medal win, after winning a silver medal in Tokyo Paralympics, Nishad Kumar won his second silver medal in the high jump event by winning a silver medal in Paris Paralympics games on Sunday night by his best jump of 2.04 meters .
Nishad Kumar, a son of a mason, had cut his one hand when a kid while helping his family members in thrashing grains in his village.
But braving all odds he started taking training in athletics and now has won the silver medal twice in the high jump event in Paralympics games at Paris.
While parents of Nishad Kumar are ecstatic about his feat the whole village celebrated his winning jump last night.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has felicitated Nishad Kumar on winning silver medal in the Paralympics games .
The CM said ” It is a proud moment for the people of the state as the young lad of the sate has brought laurels to the country by performing stupendously in the event”.
He said the remarkable feat of Nishad Kumar is a testament of his hard work, dedication and passion for the sport. He expressed hope that the achievement of Nishad Kumar will inspire young generation.
