Two more bodies were recovered on Tuesday taking the death toll to 16 in flash floods caused by cloudburst at Samej in Shimla district, Bagipul in Kullu district and Terang in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, on August 1.
At least 36 people are still untraced who had gone missing after the calamity.
DC Mandi Apoorav Devgan said , “ One body was recovered from Terang after six days taking the death toll to 9, the victim has been identified as Khuddi Devi whose body was recovered by the rescue teams by blasting huge boulders, spotted by sniffer dogs ; now only one person Hardev is missing and rescue teams are searching for the person”, he added.
He said, “Efforts are afoot to open Terang road, officials and workers of PWD are trying to open the road.”
Meanwhile one body was recovered in Sunni Dam, which is yet to be identified.
Since most of the bodies recovered in Satluj river are beyond recognition the local administration is taking DNA samples of the family members of the missing persons to match these with the bodies recovered.
