Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) has expressed its resentment over the government’s decision to only pay 40% of an employee’s salary during thier study leave.
State President of the HGCTA Dr Banita Saklani
said, ” Acording to the existing regulations in the state the employees were entitled to receive their entire salary during study leave as College teachers seek study leave in order to go for higher study and research work”.
She said , “The satet government’s move will discourage the teachers from pursuing higher education”.
” In order to grow their career and perform better on the job, teachers have the right to upgrade their education and skills which is also required for thier career advancement; Ph.D degree is also required for promotion too.”
HGCTA has demanded that government should maintain the current policy of paying teachers their full salaries during study leaves.
Association has also demanded increase of study leave quota for teachers in college cadre and enhance the duration of study leave.
