With recovery of three bodies on Friday, the death toll in flash floods caused by cloud bursts at three places in Himachal Pradesh, has risen to eight, while 45 people are still missing

DC Mandi Apoorav Devgan said , “ Two bodies of nine years old Aman and eight years old Aryan, were recovered by rescue teams on Friday; three bodies were recovered on Thursday and five people are still missing from Tenag ( Rajban) village in Padhar sub division of Mandi district.”

He said, “Due to strong flow of water in the nullah the rescue teams are facing hardships in tracing the missing persons but we are seeking the help of drones as a three month’s old child and an eleven year’s old girl along with three other people are still missing.”

As per a PIT report “One body was recovered at Bagipul while search operations to trace 45 persons missing after flash floods in three districts of Shimla, Kullu and Mandi were still on.”

“Four persons stuck after Malana dam bursts on Thursday, have been rescued by the NDRF teams on Friday; now all 33 persons stuck have been rescued “, said DC Kullu.

 The cloud bursts and flash floods at Samej in Ramapur sub division of Shimla district, Bagipul in Nimand sub division of Kullu District and Rajban in Mandi district on Thursday had caused devastation leading to death of 8 people while 45 people are still missing.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu along with Education Minister Rohit Thakur visited Samej  to take stock of the situation and talk to the victims.

He said , “ An  immediate relief of Rs 50,000 and Rs 5000 each for three months d along with essential items will be  given to the  victims’ families; a relief package would be announced soon,” he added.

As per the state emergency operation center 73 persons  have lost lives , , 103 houses have been completely or partially damaged in the three districts and  six motor-able roads, 32 foot bridges, shops, schools, vehicles have also been damaged and a loss of Rs 649 crore assessed.

Former CM Jai Ram Thakur also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi and briefed him about the losses after recent monsoon devastation in the state.

He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all help for relief and rescue operations in Himachal Pradesh.”
