Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday, after massive demonstrations against her government in which more than 100 people have been killed in police firing and clashes.
As per a PTI report quoting diplomatic sources, “She is on her way to London by taking Indian route in a transport airplane of the Bangladesh Air Force and is expected to have a stopover in India.”
Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman said in Dhaka, “Hasina has resigned and an interim government is taking over the responsibilities and the Army would maintain law and order in the country.”
The Hasina government was facing unprecedented protests against her government after the decision of her government to give reservations in government jobs to families of the veterans who participated in the 1971 war to liberate Bangladesh.
The protests started by students have turned violent and more than 100 people have been killed in the protests against the Hasina government over the last two days.
