Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged Home Minister Amit Shah to release financial assistance of Rs 9042 crore under post-disaster assessment to Himachal Pradesh.
The CM, who met the Home Minister at New Delhi on Wednesday said, “The Home Minister was apprised about the intensity of natural disasters in the state and requested him to release pending funds with the Ministry for meeting the challenge of natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh.”
The CM said , “ The issue of release of financial assistance of Rs 9042 crore as assessed by the Central team after the natural disaster in 2023 was also taken up with the minister in view of urgent need for funds as monsoon rains have already started in the state .”
“The minister was also requested to release long pending Rs 61.04 crore recommended by 14th Finance Commission under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for 2019-20, Rs 200 crore recommended by 15th Finance Commission for 2021- 22, for effective management of landslides and earthquakes, besides approval for Rs 125.84 crore project submitted to the ministry under National Disaster Mitigation Fund”, the CM said.
The CM also stressed the need to establish NDRF complexes in the state and start construction of Mandi, Rampur and Nalagarh complexes.
