Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on Tuesday and urged him to support Himachal Pradesh for becoming a complete green state and briefed the PM about the state government’s initiatives taken to make the state green.
The CM requested him to suitably compensate the state to come out of its obligation of purchasing thermal power and approve RIDF loans from NABARD to fund electric buses for switching over to electric buses.
Apart from this the CM also discussed the potential for generating 1000 MW of hybrid solar and wind energy in Spiti, which could be transmitted through a green corridor utilizing the solar, wind and hydro potential of the Sutlej basin and sought support for this mega solar project in Spiti.
The CM also discussed long pending dues of the state government from BBMB and urged the PM to take up the issues of transfer of Shanan power project with Punjab government to Himachal government after expiry of the lease and free power from SJVN and NHPC.
He also apprised the PM about the state government’s efforts to boost tourism in the state, especially the effort to convert Kangra as tourism capital of the state, various other initiatives taken to generate resources and pleaded for substantial financial assistance to recover from the massive losses suffered during the natural disaster.
