Himachal Pradesh Education Department will issue show cause notices to nearly 250 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), posted in different schools of the state where class X results of hundreds of students was very poor in this year’s HP Board School Education exam.

The Directorate of Elementary Education after collecting information from such schools and action is being initiated as the pass percentage in as many as 116 government schools of class x was less than  25 percent and zero percent in thirty schools .

Director of Elementary Education Ashish Kohli said, “The department is serving show cause notices to 250 TGTs and explanation is also being sought from classical and vernacular teachers.”

He said, “We will also write to the Secretary, Education, to seek an explanation from the principals/headmasters of these schools as well; the annual increments of these teachers and principals/headmasters could be stopped if they fail to give  a convincing explanation for the poor showing by the students”, he added .

The government schools are already under pressure due to poor  student enrollment as a large number of students are now opting out for private schools and bad results are likely to hit the reputation of government schools further , despite the fact that government school teachers are getting much higher salaries than the private schools .
