BJP president and Union Health Minister J P Nadda was named as Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Nadda, who hails from Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, is perhaps the first leader holding three major posts, at the same time, i.e.  BJP president, Leader of Rajya sabha and a  Union Minister .

Nadda, started his political career in the ABVP and also remained president of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and later moved to New Delhi on  becoming  national president of BJYM , he went on to become General Secretary of BJP and later its national president, a post which he still holds

Nadda’s term as BJP president is about to end in June this year but he may continue till the time a new party president is elected.

Nadda replaces Union Minister Piyush Goyal as Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha. Goyal has been elected to the Lok Sabha.
