BJP candidate from Mandi parliament constituency Kangana Ranaut was shown black flags by followers of spiritual guru the Dalai Lama during her election campaign at Kaza on Monday.
A source from Kaza said, “Hundreds of agitated followers of the Lama, including women protesters lined up at Kaza showed black flags and raised ‘Go Back’ slogans. The mob chased the vehicle in which Kanagana was travelling to Kaza and local police had a tough time controlling the devotees.”
Kangana Ranaut accompanied by former CM Jai Ram Thakur, campaigning for the election in Spiti area of Lahaul- Spiti, had to face the ire of the Dalai Lama’s followers for her alleged controversial meme on the Lama and US President Joe Biden.
Though Kangana had withdrawn the controversial meme and had reportedly sought pardon from the Dalai Lama but his devotees are still agitated.
Former CM Jai Ram Thakur condemning the incident has blamed the district administration and the state government for the incident.
He said, “It was a failure of the district administration which allowed the protesters to reach the venue of their public meeting ; BJP is contemplating to file an FIR and approach the Election Commission of India,” he added.
