Congress candidates Anand Sharma (from Kangra parliament constituency) and Vikrmaditya Singh (from Mandi parliament constituency), filed their nomination papers on Thursday at Dharamshala and Mandi, respectively.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Pratibha Singh and other Congress leaders held public meetings in support of Anand Sharma at Dharamshala and Vikrmaditya Singh at Mandi.
Addressing a public meeting at Zorawar Singh stadium Dharamshala, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu made scathing attack at six rebel Congress MLAs, said, “The MLAs who sold their conscious will be behind the bars as sufficient evidence has been revealed in the investigation and voters would teach them a lesson in the by-elections.”
He said, “Anand Sharma, while being a Union Cabinet Minister in the Manmohan Singh government, brought big gifts for the state like IIT Mandi, Central University and NIFT in Kangra district, Industrial Park worth Rs 150 crore in Kandrori and Regional Office of Tea Board in Palampur etc”.
The CM said, “Anand Sharma after getting elected MP from Kangra parliamentary constituency would become the voice of people of Kangra and Himachal at the national level.”
Taking a dig at former CM Jai Ram Thakur while addressing a public meeting at Seri Manch Mandi, the CM said, “Former CM Jai Ram Thakur is going to prove a flop film director for the third time as his new film Kangana mere Angana is surely going to flop like his two earlier ventures i.e Riwaz Badelenge and operation Lotus.”
The CM also narrated achievements of the Congress government during the last 15 months and talked about measure taken to provide succor during the monsoon disaster, restoring OPS to state government employees , starting Sukh Ashrey scheme for orphans, giving Rs 1500 to women in the state etc , besides measures taken by the state government to make the state self reliant.”
He said, “Vikrmadiyta Singh is a hero as he did very good work during the monsoon disaster in the state and opening closed roads after the disaster.”
Congress candidates Vikrmaditya Singh and Anand Sharma while addressing the rallies talked about their visions for development of Mandi and Kangra parliament constituencies.
HPCC president Pratibha Singh and other Congress leaders also addressed the public meetings.
