Himachal Pradesh Congress Committe (HPCC) president and sitting Congress MP from Mandi Pratibha Singh has shown her reluctance to contest the next parliament elections.
Talking to media persons after a meeting with Central Congress leadership in New Delhi, she said,” I have expressed my inability to contest the parliment election from Mandi.”
She said, ” Party workers are not ready to work during the election due to disenchantment with the Congress led state government; i have been taking up this issue with the party high command but this was not addressed and thus workers felt ignored. ”
Her statement has created more trouble for beleaguered Congress goverment in the state, battling for survival after defeat of Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the recently held Rajya Sabha election . Six Congress rebel MLAs had cross voted for BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan who won the election through a toss after a tie.
The number of Congress MLAs has been reduced to 34 from 40 in the house of 68.
