Brigadier Govind Singh Sisodia (retired), the Commander of the Black Cat Commando operation during 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, was felicitated in a function at Sardar Patel University Mandi on Sunday.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University Patel University Prof. Anupama Singh presented a Himachali cap, muffler and a memento to Brigadier Sisodia.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Anupama Singh said, “Our countrymen would always remember the contribution of the brave soldier and Brigadier Sisodia would always remain a source of inspiration for the young generation.”
Brigadier Sisodia (retired) was also a member of Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka (1987), where he was hit by a bullet from a terrorist.
Born in Bharno village of Chopal tehsil in Shimla district, he studied in Vijay Memorial Government High School Mandi and has fond memories of the town.
He said, “My father was a revenue officer at Mandi and I attended classes at Ghantaghar Mandi, still have fond memories of my early education at Mandi and am in touch with old school friends,” he added.
He was here to attend a marriage function in the family of an old school friend. Sisodia also remained a student of SDB College Shimla before joining Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army in 1975. He is settled in Dehradun at present .
