Dr Banita Saklani, president of Himachal College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) has been elected vice president of All India University and College Teachers’ Federation (AIFUCTO), in the 33rd Constitutional Conference held at Kanpur recently.
The first women president of the HGCTA, Dr Salkani was elected to the post of the vice president as a representative of the HGCTA.
Prof. M. Nagarajan was elected as the President and Prof. Arun Kumar was elected as the National General Secretary of the Federation along with 32 other office bearers.
The conference also discussed, “The effects of the National Education Policy, besides important challenges of the said policy in terms of decline in educational opportunities, violation of dignity of teachers and mess with the future of students.”
Dr. Banita Saklani said, “The teaching community would launch a campaign in the state to highlight the falling standard of education at the national level and would also organize protests.”
