The statement of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Pratibha Singh for not being informed about the state level function being organized by the state government at Dharamshala to celebrate one year of formation of the Congress government , has exposed lack of coordination between the Congress organization and the government .
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced two days back to hold a state level function at Dharamshala on December 11 to celebrate completion of one year rule of the Congress government in which top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are likely to participate.
HPCC president Pratibha Singh, MP from Mandi had claimed, “Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government had not taken me into confidence for organizing a function to celebrate one year’s rule of the Congress government at Dharamshala and I have no knowledge about the function as I have not been intimated about it,” she added.
She said, “The state government in Himachal has come to power because of the party (Congress organization) and it is not good if the government ignores the party and its workers and expects the CM to strengthen the party as he himself has risen from the party ranks.”
Pratibha Singh had won the Mandi parliamentary seat in a crucial by-election held in 2021 by defeating a BJP candidate while BJP was ruling the state. The win was quite significant as the BJP candidate had won the seat by margin of over 4 lakh votes in the 2019 election, that too in the home district of then Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
This is not the first time the HPCC president has given vent to her feelings as she has been asking the Chief Minister to adjust old and committed party workers in the government .
She has also stressed on the need to have proper coordination between the party and the state government to encourage the party workers to prepare for the 2024 parliament election.
