Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to remove Director General of Police (DGP) Himachal Pradesh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Kangra from their present places of postings .
Acting on a complaint of a Palampur based businessman, a Division bench of HP High Court headed by Chief Justice MS Ramchandra Rao and Justice Jyotsna Riwal Dua on Tuesday expressed surprise on closing of eyes and lack of action by Home Secretary to HP government in the matter and directed him to take immediate steps for removal of DGP Sanjay Kundu and SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri and place them at places where they cannot influence the inquiry in the case.
The High Court questioned “Why important findings highlighted in the investigation of SP Shimla were not used in the investigation by SP Kangra?”
Taking a suo moto cognizance of the complaint by the businessman Nishant Kumar made through an E- mail, the High Court had directed the state government to file an FIR against the DGP Sanjay Kundu and get the matter investigated by SP Shimla and SP Kangra.
In his complaint made on October 28, Nishant Kumar had demanded registration of an FIR against the DGP for exerting undue pressure on him at the behest of an influential person during investigation of a case.
The complainant had also apprehended threats to his life and family as the DGP had allegedly made 15 missed calls to him and used police pressure to terrorize him.
