President of Himachal College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) Dr. Banita Saklani has demanded repeal of the state government’s policy to recruit college teachers on contract basis.
Dr Saklani said ,” The contact policy is not in the best interest of the employees and the state government should scrap the policy, besides providing service benefits to all college teachers employed on contract basis.”
She has strongly opposed the state government’s decision to regularize services of the contractual teachers once in a year as this will have adverse impact on them, moreover they will have to serve for more than two years on contract for getting regularized.
Apart from this, she has also requested the government to implement in letter and spirit the decision of Himachal High Court to give financial and other benefits to college teachers from their day of joining.
The HGCTA has also termed the decision to appoint college teachers on lecture basis not viable as this will affect the quality of education and urged the state government to make all recruitment in future on regular basis.

It’s nice to strengthen the quality of education and the rights of teaching staff as well.
