Former Director General of Sikkim Police Sanam Dubke (SD) Negi was cremated with full state honours at his family’s ancestral cremation ground Yangpa 1 on the banks of river Satluz on Friday.
Negi was living in Gangtok with his family and had come to visit his ancestral village near Bhava in Kinnuar district of Himachal alone a few days back but passed away on Monday due to heart failure.
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi laid wreath on the mortal remains of SD Negi . The minister said, “SD Negi was a source of inspiration for people of Kinnaur as his achievements motivated young generation and we all join in paying tributes to him and expressing sympathies with family members of the departed officer.”
A 1987 batch Sikkim cadre Indian Police Services (IPS) Officer had risen to the top rank of the Director General of Sikkim Police and was also advisor to the state government.
The funeral pyre of Negi was lit by his elder son, who reached the village along with his mother, brother and other family members from Gangtok on Thursday.
SDM and DSP Nichar, besides other officers attended the cremation. The Jawans of Himachal Police also gave gun salute to the departed police officer.
