Former Chamba MLA and a retired bureaucrat BK Chauhan (76) passed away in New Delhi on Wednesday morning.
Chauhan was elected MLA from Chamba sadar constituency on BJP ticket two times from 2007 to 2012 and 2012 to 2017.
He hailed from Kundi village of Chamba and did his graduation from Government College Chamba, later he had joined Indian Administrative Services and served on various administrative posts in the Bihar government. He was shifted to Jharkhand after formation of the new state from where he retired from the post of Chief Secretary.
Chauhan also remained on deputation to the Himachal Pradesh government for several years and served as Deputy Commissioner Mandi, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Shimla and Managing Director of HP Tourism Development Corporation.
A source close to him said, “Chuuhan was not keeping well for the past some time and died of heart failure today morning; his body is being brought to his ancestral village for cremation”, he added.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in his condolence message said, “ B.K. Chauhan’s contribution to the development of the Chamba assembly segment was immense and he would be remembered by the people of the area for a long time.”
The CM also sent his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the departed Soul.
