The Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi authorities have suspended ten B.Tech students for six months and taken disciplinary action against all 72 students found involved in ragging of junior students of the institute.
An official of the institute in a press statement said, “A few days back an incident of ragging of junior students by senior B. Tech students was reported in the institute after which anti -ragging committee investigated the matter and confirmed the ragging of fresher’s by the senior students.”
“Taking stern action on the report the IIT Mandi authorities have taken disciplinary action 72 students found guilty; 10 students have been suspended for six months from the academic session and hostel, a fine of Rs 15000 each and community service of 20 days, a fine of Rs 20000 and community service of 40 hours and imposed a fine of Rs 25000 and a punishment of community service of 60 hours for others on the basis of their involvement in the incident”, he added.
