Several environmental and social organizations have demanded filing of criminal cases against National Highway Authority and managements of Hydro Power companies responsible for their alleged negligence for aggravating effects of recent monsoon fury in the state.
Talking to media persons at Mandi on Sunday, Guman Singh, Sandeep Minhas, Joginder Walia, BR Kaundal, Narendra Saini under the banner of Himalayan Niti Abhiyan said, “ The organization after collecting information at ground level and analysis based on tow webinars has come to conclusion the recent devastation during the monsoon fury was more a mad made than a natural calamity and people responsible should be brought to book.”
They have demanded that all political parties should include the damage caused by national disaster and steps to find solutions to mitigate these should be included in their agendas.
Himalayan Niti Abhiyan has prepared an exhaustive report on the effects of devastation on human beings and environment based on reporting of Himalaya Niti Abhiyaan, fourlane affected people, citizens, social organizations, environmental activists, retired public servants and scientific community and people’s organizations of Himachal.
They said, “On the basis of this report they have made certain recommendations to the state government and have urged the state government to take action on these as long term measures to protect people’s property.”
They have demanded the state government should strictly enforce norms for private and government construction, power projects, dams, four-lanes and multi storied buildings, besides giving land for houses to affected people.
