Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over the phone and inquired about the extent of the damages caused to life and property due to heavy rains and floods in Himachal Pradesh.

The CM said, “I informed him the state has been severely affected by floods and heavy rainfall, leading to extensive damage and provided an update on the situation and sought liberal assistance from the Central government to tackle this natural calamity”.

The CM said, “I have   informed the Prime Minister that the state government is closely monitoring the situation as 17 lives have been lost and property worth several thousand crore  destroyed and damaged.”

The CM thanked the Prime Minister for sending NDRF teams to the state to assist the rescue operation and said the state government officials are working day and night;  and appealed to him to give liberal grants for relief and restoration work, besides a special economic package.”

 In response to the Chief Minister’s concerns, The Prime Minister assured him of the Union Government’s unwavering support, promising all possible assistance to come out of this crisis.
